article, the writer
wrote that Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) was found by the Council of Europe experts at 1970s. It is an approach of
teaching a language, different with a method because it gives the teachers a
chance to make a class based on their creativity and innovation. This approach
focuses on the practicality of language, not worry about the grammatical of the
language. This approach makes a more communicative class rather than a method, the
creativity and innovation of teacher is very important to apply this approach,
however, the central of teaching learning process is not the teacher, but the
students. But the requirement to apply this approach is difficult, they are the
facilities and the class should be appropriate with group work. Based on that
requirement, this approach is very difficult to apply in Saudi context because the
facilities of the schools there are not designed to group work, the important
requirement of this approach.

This
article is incomplete, there are many information that are missed, actually in
the advantages and disadvantages of Communicative Language Teaching, he just
told about the advantages and disadvantages in general context.
But,
this article is interesting because the writer tried to elaborate about
Communicative Language Teaching from another view that is rarely known by
people, beside that he also mentioned what teachers need to use this approach
in class and how to make it effective.
In
addition, something that makes this article interesting is it also told about
the other information such the usage of Communicative Language Teaching in
Saudi context which is he mention that this approach is not appropriate in
Saudi context because of the rule of the curriculum the facilities, unless the
teachers should use their own money to get the facilities to create this
approach in class.
Conclusion
This article told that Communicative Language Teaching is
not a method but an approach of teaching language, this approach focuses on the
students ability of using language, the teacher should be more creative to use
this approach, the requirement of this approach is difficult such us the
facilities in class and this approach is not appropriate in Saudi context.
